This afternoon, artistic director Ben Spiller met with the National Theatre to discuss a revival of Emergency Shakespeare! at Watch This Space, the National's summer arts festival.
Emergency Shakespeare! premiered last year at Derby QUAD with local St John Ambulance volunteers, who tried to save Shakespeare's characters from perilous situations such as an epileptic seizure (Othello) and falling into a brook (Ophelia).
The plan is to develop the production at the National with volunteers from the London division of St John Ambulance as a participatory arts project.
More details will follow soon. In the meantime, check out the Watch This Space site at www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/wts.
